Description
Hadestown retells the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in a gritty, jazz-infused world, weaving in the story of Hades and Persephone, as poverty and hardship push young lovers Eurydice and Orpheus apart, leading her to the industrial underworld of Hadestown for security, only for Orpheus to journey there to win her back, facing Hades’ deal that he can’t look back until they reach the surface, a test of faith and love that ends tragically but with a hopeful, defiant spirit.
